Choosing The Right Contractor

Claremore roofing contractor

Let’s be honest, roofing contractors are a dime a dozen. Some of them are dishonest and just tell you what you want to hear to get into your pockets as deep as they can.  Our mission is to give the roofing industry a better reputation by delivering honest and affordable roofing services. We know that you work hard for your money, and in these tough times, money is tight. We take pride in our work and stand behind it, making sure that you get what you pay for. We are fully insured and registered with the state of Oklahoma.

Did you know???

As of January 1, 2011, any roofing contractor in Oklahoma has to be registered with the state. Requirements include, legal citizenship and proof of general liability insurance, among others. If a company that is not registered is caught roofing a house, they face severe fines and the homeowner is left with an unfinished roof and more out of pocket expenses to hire another contractor. Don’t let this happen to you! This registration act has already weeded out some of the “Uncle Buck in a truck” roofers, out of state roofers, and illegal immigrants. There is a website that is updated every week that is open to the public to view in order to see which contractors are registered. We have placed a link below.

Whether a homeowner decides to use us or not, we feel it is our mission to point out some things that you should check and ask a roofing contractor before using them.

  • Check the registered contractor’s website (link above) to make sure they are registered with the state of Oklahoma, and in good standing. Or ask them for a copy of their certificate. Just because they have a certificate, doesn’t mean that it is still in good standing. The contractor could possibly have complaints or unpaid fees.
  • Ask them where they get their materials from. Many lumber yards and small suppliers sit on products for a long time. Some places have very low prices on materials, because they usually get secondary batches from manufacturers that were rejected by quality control. These shingles usually don’t seal down well. We use only the biggest suppliers in Tulsa that move a lot of product and are constantly rotating their stock, making sure that you’re not getting two year old shingles.
  • Call the place (or places) where they get their material and ask them about a credit reference (if they pay their bill on time, etc.). If a contractor roofs your house, but doesn’t pay the material bill afterwards, the supplier can legally put a lien on your home.
  • Ask them to provide references and addresses of houses they have roofed.
  • As tempting as it is, roofers should not be chosen on price alone. “Too good to be true” estimates are often provided by unlicensed and uninsured roofers.
